rodlox gave me the following prompt: angels, minor gods, and the possibility of another revolution. (I don't really have minor gods, but hopefully rodlox won't really mind!)
This was really tricky, trying to include Gods and Angels without turning it into a religious show. Also, I stuck to Greek gods for season 1 and would try and branch out to other mythology later on. I suspect I will come back and tweak this regularly because I'm not 100% happy with it.
GODLESS
A week before her 24th birthday, Hana Greenwood, daughter of pharmaceutical giant Peter Greenwood, accidentally observes a meeting between her father and his assistant regarding the distribution of illegal street drugs. Disillusioned and angry she wants to find proof of her father's illegal practices and expose him to the authorities. She meets Michael, who reveals the truth - that her father is actually an ancient God from Greek mythology who has chosen to live in human form in order to manipulate humans for pleasure (and turn a tidy profit at the same time). And he's not the only God living among humans. She finds out that her father would reveal this information on her birthday and offer her a contract to work in his service in exchange for the birthright of being born a half-god (including an immunity to the subtle influences of other Gods).
Michael attempts to recruit Hana into a small resistance group of angels stuck on Earth in human form to work from within the camp of a powerful being and help temper the effects of the Gods on society.
Ultimately Hana signs her father's contract and, at the end of the pilot episode, strikes a deal with Michael to be his informant in exchange for full disclosure on the resistance's plans.

Hana Greenwood // Bridget Reagan
Born the only child to billionarie parents, Hana Greenwood group up into a world of privilege and luxury. She attended the best schools - most of which she found a reason to be kicked out of during her teenage rebellion against her father, who she has never been close to.
Free-spirited and stubborn-minded, Hana doesn't let anyone tell her what to do. She has her own mind, and damnit if she doesn't let everyone know it. Growing up in luxury hasn't tempered her strong moral center. Since graduating school she has lived in an apartment with her best friend Erica, and on-again-off-again boyfriend, Marcus, and returns to the family home only of compulsory special events (and usually with significant bribery from her mother.

What if I told you God was real? What if I told you all the Gods were real? Would you believe me?
Gods
Bored with watching humans live their lives in the 20th and 21st Centurie from above, Gods from all cultures have taken on human form to mingle with, and manipulate, humans for their own pleasure. All have managed to cultivate a priveleged human persona, usually business CEOs and leaders in their fields. Not all Gods are manevolent - but they all have their own agenda.

Peter Greenwood (Plutus) // Jason Isaacs
To the world at large, Greenwood Pharmaceutical's CEO, Peter Greenwood, is a leader in his field, pioneering drug and treatment research around the globe. As one of the richest men in the world, he has garnered a lot of respect for his charitable works. And when no one else is watching, he has built up a lucrative black market drug ring on the side in order to watch the effects of some of his company's more exotic drugs manipulate the lives of the humans who take them. His rationale is simple - he's a God, and that entitles him to wealth and power. He has plans for Hana, although what they are have yet to be revealed.

Zach Klein (Zeus) // Christopher Heyerdahl
CEO of the largest engineering and technology conglomerate (Olympian Industries) in the Northern Hemisphere, Zach Klein is a man with a vision. The highest ranked 'God' in the Americas, all other Gods live and play in his sandbox by his good graces - and usually to his own means. (Guest star, Season 1)

Hera Klein (Hera) // Eva Green
The wife of Zach Klein. A former model in her 'youth', Hera is a strong woman, with strong convictions. She is a spokeswoman for the UN, and is involved in many charitable works, including providing education, supplies and support for children and women in third-world countries. (Guest star, Season 1)

Eric Marshall (Ares) // Cliff Simon
The Secretary of Defense of the United States of America. Ares cultivated his role at the behest of Zeus and he forged the military's partnership with Olympian Industries for technological warfare and modern weapons technology. He is married to a human woman, Leanne Marshall, and they have a daughter, Satire Marshall. (Recurring star, Season 1)

Perrin Finn (Priapus) // Jamie Bamber
One of the highest paid male actors in the world. A social playboy, never seen with the same woman twice and always on the front covers of magazines, Perrin Finn lives the high-life and enjoys ever minute of it. Known for fast cars, fast women and stirring up trouble wherever he is. (Recurring star, Season 1)
Perrin: Aren't you enjoying yourself?
Hana: Of course. I love spending time with arrogant, conceited jerks.
Perrin: You wound me.
Hana: That would probably be true... if you had feelings.

Astrid Lynch (Astraea) // Tamara Taylor
A female District Attorney rapidly rising through the ranks, Astrid Lynch is seen as tough-as-nails and a pain-in-the-ass for defense lawyers. (Guest star, Season 1)
Angels
The angels, soldiers of 'God', have walked among humans for as long as humans have existed. Centuries ago, 'God' disappeared, stranding those angels still on Earth there until such a time that 'God' returns. Among those stranded are Archangels Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Cammael and fallen angels Lucifer and Lillith. Michael has brought them all together in a resistance to stop the rest of the gods from interfering in human affairs and restore balance.

Michael // Sam Worthington
The oldest Archangel, and former commander of the Host of Heaven, Michael was stranded on Earth centuries ago. He spent those centuries learning to be human, how to blend in and not garner any notice. He watched as the gods of old grew bored and started to meddle in the affairs of humans for their own entertainment and decided to do something about it. He started a small resistance group, mostly of trusted brothers and sisters from Heaven, and a few humans who accidentally uncovered the truth. He is dedicated to protecting humanity in his Father's absence.
Hana: (Disbelieving) You're an angel?
Michael: Yes.
Hana: And God is real?
Michael: Not just God. All the Gods you've ever read about.
Hana: Ok.
Michael: Ok.
Hana: (Whispers) How did you escape from whichever straight-jacketed institution you've clearly been in?

Gabriel // Amanda Tapping
The former messenger of God, Gabriel prefers to stay out of direct conflict, instead offering advice to her brothers and sisters. She disapproves of the habit of jumping in head-first, no questions asked - a very human trait that Michael has picked up. (Recurring cast, Season 1)

Raphael // Kavan Smith
Michael's right-hand, Raphael has always been a formidable warrior, but has cultivated an interest in human sciences, particularly medicine while trapped on Earth. (Recurring cast, Season 1)

Camael // Emily Blunt
One of the youngest archangels. Camael spends a lot of her time identifying and locating the Gods and charting their influence. She idolises Michael and is often the first to defend him. (Recurring cast, Season 1)

Lucifer // Cam Gigandet
Cast out from Heaven long before the angels were stranded on Earth, Lucifer has known longer than any of the other angels what was happening. Despite their differences, Lucifer strikes a deal with Michael and his band of angels to investigate the activities of the gods and restore the balance. (Recurring cast, Season 1)

Lillith // Olivia Wilde
Lillith will tell you she's just misunderstood. Lillith shared Lucifer's concerns about their Father and when he was cast out, she followed. As much as she can't stand humans, she can't stand the other Gods either. She is less-thrilled with Lucifer's decision to work with Michael and is often at logger-heads with Gabriel. (Recurring cast, Season 1)
Half-Gods & Humans

Elizabeth Greenwood // Diane Lane
The human wife of Peter Greenwood, and mother of Hana Greenwood. She has spent the better part of the last 10 years tempering the rift between her husband and daughter, being the only thing they have in common. Elizabeth is the perfect wife, and has unwavering faith in her husband - something Hana doesn't understand. It remains unknown whether Elizabeth knows that the man she married is not a man at all. (Recurring cast, Season 1)

Marcus Michelson // Craig Horner
Hana's on-again-off-again boyfriend and roommate. They met while Hana was attending college through Erica, who invited him to move in to fill a bedroom and help pay the rent. At the start of Season 1 Marcus and Hana are off-again and trying to set each other up with someone else. He's an engineer, working at a local repair shop. (Guest star, Season 1)

Erica Spotlyn // Kristen Bell
Hana's best friend in college. Erica's led a pretty generic and uneventful life - something she's resentful of. When Hana is drawn into the world of Gods and Angels, Erica becomes suspicious, eventually discovering the truth and being brought into the fold. She works with Camael in tracking the influence of the gods, and making links between different resistance groups.

Satire Marshall // Ashley Greene
The daughter of Eric Marshall and his wife, Satire is half-god/half-human and, unlike Hana, thoroughly enjoys her status. Granted the powers of her position, Satire works for Peter Greenwood as a personal assistant. When Hana signs her contract, Peter assigns Satire the duty of teaching her about her abilities and her responsibilities to her father. He also assigns her the task of spying on his daughter, not truly believing her motivations. A mutual animosity surfaces between the two women and Satire becomes obsessed with trying to prove that Hana is a traitor to her father. (From Episode 2, Season 1)

Carlson Ford // Adam Baldwin
Peter Greenwood's chief personal assistant. Carlson Ford does anything and everything Peter says without question. Throughout season 1, Hana begins to suspect that Carlson is another half-god due to the sheer dedication he has to her father. He is often seen (by the audience) as the person completing Peter's illegal deals. (Recurring cast, Season 1)
